This
is the place where I spent most of my time, day and night. To
be a good engineer and producer, you have to be familiar with
the sound of you studio. And the only way to achieve this is by
LIVING AND BREATHING in your studio.
Working
in commercial studios outside can be a very frustrating experience
especially when you work with incompatent engineers. Mixing turned
out too bassy or muddy because some studios in Hong Kong have
really bad acoustics. Young engineers ( and some old) are only
exprienced in recording midi equipments and when they have to
record a set of real drums, oh well.
Fat
Cat Studio is mainly for recording midi equipments, guitars, vocal
dubbing and sometimes mixing. when live drums are called for I
still have to go to outside studio and tranfer the file back to
FC. I have spent enough time here to fully master the sound and
deliver some really good sounding albums.
I
usually reserve the studio for my own production only and seldom
rent it out for outside job. But if you have some interesting
projects and you need my production skill, try emailing to me
and maybe we can work something out.
See
some studio shots here.
People
always ask me why I call my stdio Fat Cat, here's why: I proudly
introduce to you my studio manager Tom. He spent most of his time
under my mixing console and he takes care of everything animal-related.
And
also meet his friend Higgie, a cat who thinks that she's a human
being, that is a talkative human being. She enjoys nagging me
but I never get a word she says.
